The big auto makers are racing with each other to introduce new technologies in their vehicles, and Ford has been at the forefront of this tech craze. To wit, they are now the first car company to add a mobile WiFi hotspot to their Ford Focus model for 2012.

The company plans to experiment with the system in Europe first, where the Focus will become the first car that is also a mobile WiFi hotspot. The WiFi works with Ford Sync, a novel system that will be featured in all the new Ford car models. This communication and entertainment system can be used for hands free voice calling, and it will help in running applications developed by the company and Microsoft Windows Embedded Automotive Operating System in the vehicle. The WiFi will utilize customers' existing USB modems or smartphones integrated by a MyFord touch system with Ford Sync.
