Microsoft Outlook 2007 Guide

This guide covers:

Publishing calendar information to our site

Outlook 2007 differs from Outlook 2003 in that instead of using the freebusy feature of Outlook 2003, we instead publish the calendar from Outlook 2007 to ifreebusy.com.

  1. Vista and Office 2007 have HTTP basic authentication disabled by default, which means that you aren't able to upload calendar files to our site. You can enable HTTP basic authentication by following the steps here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841215

  2. In the Folders view of Outlook, right click the calendar you wish to publish and select 'Publish to Internet' -> Publish to WebDAV Server as shown below:

    Outlook 2007 Publish

  3. Select your availability detail (i.e. how much detail you want to publish - ifreebusy.com will only ever show the freebusy representation to others, regardless of how much detail you publish):

    Outlook 2007 Options

  4. Respond to the username/password prompt with your ifreebusy.com username and password.

  5. Done! Your calendar file will be published automatically to our site.

Using freebusy information of your contacts

  1. From the Outlook Contacts folder, open a Contact by double-clicking.

  2. Go to the Details tab, and in the Internet Free-Busy section, type in the full path to the location of the Contact's freebusy information in the Address field. For example, 'http://www.ifreebusy.com/username/freebusy.vfb'.

  3. To schedule a meeting with a Contact using freebusy information, click New Meeting Request on the Actions menu in the Calendar Folder, and enter your meeting details:

    Outlook 2003 Meeting Details

  4. On the Scheduling tab, type in the name of the Contact in the All Attendees field, or select the name from the Add Others drop-down menu. Outlook will automatically insert the Contact's freebusy information in the planner:

    Outlook 2003 Meeting Schedule

  5. Click the Send button to send the meeting invitation to your Contact.
